Was blowin a hollie all morning and upto about 1 ish back home. Thought I\\\'d wait a while as the forecast was for the wind to drop off and brighten up a bit. Thought about going windsurfing when I arrived and as Phil, chris and Libby arrived; I decided on the 5.4 tush. As I was rigging, the wind felt it was dying down a tad so I opted for the kite instead.
The tide was quite far out so walked across the mud flats and set the lines up. Phil helped me launch and I got going. The wind was around 15kntos when I launched so it was just a few downwinders whilst Phil and Chris were barely planin in the marginal conditions but they always managed to stay upwind.

After a while, the wind gradually picked up and I was managing to stay up wind and the setup felt perfect. The wind was a bit gusty though and picked up further which made it pretty difficult and I lost my board a few times when changing tack. I carried on with the strong gusts and scared myself a few times. Some of the runs got too much and I was way overpowered half the time. The final straw came when I was coming to the shoreline full speed. Tried to bleed of the speed by flying the kite to Zenith but a big strong gust came through which accelearted me further at which point I hit the shoreline so jumped off the board and landed about 20ft downwind at the speed of the wind. Fortunately it was soft mud so no ankles broken. I tried to get the kite into Zenith but my chickenloop was unhooked which meant I was on full power fully sheeted in so eventually bailed and pulled the safety as I was heading directly for the bungalow.
A top session before that though and a good reminder of how dangerous these kites are in gusty conditions.
Sandra was takin some pics again of the 3 of us with her awesome camera.
